A renovation and restoration effort at the North Transept of the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine is nearing completion, nearly 17 years after the structure was severely damaged by a five-alarm fire in December 2001. The work by Susan T. Rodriguez / Ennead Architects encloses the North Transept with a new roof, protecting the interior which had been open to the elements since the fire. Built on the historic walls of the Cathedral, the roof protects the original structure and paves the way for future work on the interior space.
